Nearby are areas of special biological interest such as the S. Jacinto Dunes Nature Reserve.
Access to the AE A1 (Porto - Lisbon) and IP5 (Aveiro - Vilar Formoso - Spain) is very easy, and the route to Porto is made in 40 minutes.
Murtosa is, however, part of one of the most dynamic districts in the country, Aveiro, and is surrounded by municipalities with important industrial and economic bases, such as Ovar, Estarreja and Aveiro.
