Description
Villa Cernigliaro Historic residence Franco Antonicelli.
Villa Cernigliaro, historical residence bound by the Ministry of Education, protected by the Superintendency of Architectural Heritage and Landscape of Piedmont, is one of the most beautiful villas in the Region.
It was thanks to Franco Antonicelli (1902-1974), writer and politician, that here it was possible to reconstitute every summer starting from 1935 the collective composed among others, by Augusto Monti, Leone Ginzburg, Norberto Bobbio, Cesare Pavese and the same Antonicelli with friends such as Benedetto Croce and Einaudi.
The Villa was then owned by Antonicelli's father-in-law, the notary Hannibal Germano: a leading figure linked to the industrial class of Turin and to the pre-fascist political class.
By the choice of Franco Antonicelli, Primo Levi was published for the first time; works by Herman Melville and Franz Kafka, Eugene Gladstone O'Neill and James Joyce began to enter Italy with translations of the likes of Cesare Pavese.
