Description
Quinta da Veiga is a flat and sunny property, easily accessible and with a 900-metre riverside border along the Douro river. The farm is located on the northern banks of the Douro river, almost 6 km from the riverside village of Barca d'Alva and around 20 km from Vila Nova da Foz Coa, where you will find Upper Paleolithic rock engravings. It is also situated in the vicinity of the Douro International Natural Park.
Its proximity to the Douro International Natural Park gives it the possibility of developing a nature-based tourism concept, rare bird observation or trekking, boat trips, hunting, fishing and above all, enjoying nature and silence. Ride a donkey to the sound of bagpipes and explore the Miranda region, and even learn a few words of the Mirandese language. 'This' Douro has a smell and silence of its own.
Quinta da Viega has an area of 12.87 ha set against a singular Douro landscape. The property has 900 m frontal access to the river Douro, and comprises 3 urban buildings, 2 of which have been completely restored and in perfect structural conditions for habitation. They have been rebuilt according to local traditional methods, with a total area of almost 500 sq. m with the possibility of extension.
The farm is currently divided into 3 areas (all with drip irrigation): approximately 5 ha of new almond trees but in full production, almost 5 ha of olive groves, and approximately 1 ha of orange trees. The remaining land has natural vegetation. It has the necessary electrical installations, with its own PT and electricity meter, giving it total energy independence. It also has a water collection and distribution system for agriculture and drinking water.
Quinta da Viega is situated 2 hours from Porto International Airport and 2 hours 20 mins from Salamanca (Spain), meaning that it is close enough, yet far enough away from civilisation to pursue your dreams.
