Description
A city of workshops, cabinetmakers and carvers, Maglie's importance in past centuries is evident thanks in part to the beauty of the historic palaces that belonged to ancient noble families, with courtyards, gardens and elegant reception rooms.
This property certainly encapsulates all these characteristics. The charm it exudes is unchanged over the centuries. Located on one of the streets in the city center, the family that still owns the palace has its origins here in Maglie. A family of entrepreneurs who, as early as the 1800s, began making important voyages and then continued in the early 1900s, throughout Europe and even to India and America to organize ships destined for the Italian market. Entering through the main door immediately one realizes that one is in a very special, ancient, well-designed environment. On the left some rooms dedicated to workshops and on the right a small apartment then, continuing the garage and a large, well exposed courtyard. Marble stairs with cast-iron railings lead to the main floor and here a succession of representative rooms with vaulted ceilings and frescoes in delicate colors and motifs, until you reach the yellow living room and then the red living room precisely because of the shades of the frescoes. Authentic and beautiful cement tiles, black and, in other rooms, red checkerboard floors, balconies and terraces all the way to the solar pavement from where there is a view that reaches far into the distance. Certainly the property needs renovation work but, in general, the condition is very good. Ideal for a private residence or for several private residences as well as to make a splendid dwelling intended for receptivity, perhaps taking advantage of the benefits that the Puglia Region allocates to these initiatives.
