Description
Exclusive historical complex in Val d'Orcia
Overlooking Poggio alle Mura on one side and Argiano on the other, perched on a private hill, this property is one of the most representative structures in the area. The Pieve di San Sigismondo has been used over the centuries for many purposes but in the last few decades, it has become one of the luxury poles of Tuscany that therefore satisfies the demanding requests of numerous international customers. The property, recently completely renovated, was built entirely in stone alternating with ancient bricks. The building develops in a horseshoe shape with a beautiful well in the central courtyard; on the left wing, there is a centuries-old Romanesque church, while on the right and central parts there are eight double bedrooms with private bathrooms. In the beautiful halls on the ground floor, there is a very luxurious restaurant with its professional kitchen where numerous weddings have been organized, also for well-known personalities of entertainment and sport. Currently, there is also a large industrial kitchen for the organization of events, a space that in any case would be easy to reconvert. The entire property is enriched with highly sought-after furnishing elements and the strong contrast between old and new enhances every architectural element of the structure, starting with the beautiful terracotta floors and ending with the striking bleached beam ceilings. The property is completed by an incredible veranda overlooking the private garden, the vineyards, where an excellent Sant'Antimo is produced, and a huge and suggestive swimming pool externally tiled in local stone.
La Pieve di San Sigismondo is located a few hundred meters from Poggio alle Mura, the representative castle of the Banfi company and, on the other side, about two kilometres from Argiano in the splendid setting of Val D'Orcia. In the distance, you can see the small village called Sant'Angelo in Colle, the last bastion of the municipality of Montalcino. While the peaks of Monte Amiata are the background, the surrounding vineyards of Brunello and the rolling hills project the structure into what is considered one of the most loved places in the world. The property is completely fenced and access is very easy due to the total lack of dirt roads that are more difficult to pass through.
