Its stone façade, framed by Guelph battlements and two towers, has an entrance door in the centre and several windows, those on the ground floor protected by the classic medieval grilles. It is accessed via two symmetrical exedra-shaped ramps that enclose a space used as a car park and that lead to a small widening surrounded by a small circular wall with seating area. Here, passing through the ancient portal, we access the entrance hall leading to the inner courtyard where the windows of the castle's various rooms and halls look out. The fortress is on four levels: the ground floor houses the kitchen, a large oven area, the pantry, the dining room and a bathroom as well as the access to the dungeon. From the courtyard, housing a grape press once available for the peasants to use, passing under a portico (renovated in 1960) we climb the stairs leading to the main floor where we find the private chapel, the large feast hall with monumental fireplace and large bright windows, two more lounges, a dining room, 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a charming hanging garden with a well and a patrol walkway from which we can admire the magnificent panorama of the surrounding hills. On the second floor there are 5 additional bedrooms, a kitchen and a dining room, a corridor and two bathrooms. The top floor houses the attic area, towers and terrace. In 1913, the castle underwent major renovations, including the addition of the two exedra access ramps.
The castle is located in the historic centre of Ciciliano, an ancient and charming village situated in the tranquillity of the Roman countryside, only 35 minutes away from Rome, accessible via the A24 Rome-L'Aquila motorway and then the SS5.
