Sant Joan Baptista
Around the 1920s, the Font i Vinyals urbanization appeared, the origin of this neighborhood, which a few years earlier had begun to industrialize. The rapid growth of this neighborhood led to some antagonism with the old part of the town around the 1930s. They were referred to as the people from "Dalt" and "Baix." In the 1930s, this neighborhood housed the hunting lodge of Mr. Font, the owner of the land and one of the promoters of the urbanization, as at that time ducks, rails, and water hens could still be hunted in the delta lands early in the morning. Another promoter of the urbanization was Mr. Fermí Borras.
In this neighborhood, you can find educational centers: CEIP Catalunya, CC Amor de Déu, and IES Manuel Vázquez Montalban; the Casal de Cultura, and the Besòs building, home to various official institutions.
