FILIPPI CASTLE or Villa Filippi
This important historic castle is located in the beautiful Umbria.
The structure has been very recently renovated and restored to use it as an accommodation business.
The completely sunny and dominant position over the Eugubine valley has enhanced it since its origins its historical and agricultural importance.
The building is completely surrounded by land owned in part still cultivated with vineyards, as evidence of its importance also for agricultural purposes, as demonstrated by the beautiful, perfectly restored beam presses bearing the date of 1819 period of its construction.
The castle is also delimited by perimeter walls that include the structure, a beautiful park on the side of the main entrance and another of the square where the construction of a large infinity pool is underway and where there is a small annex, the caretaker's home, which has also been perfectly restored.
Partly the walls and ceilings are frescoed and above the sumptuous main staircase there is a fresco dating back to the Medici family of Florence.
The castle has two lateral turrets on the side where the main entrance is located, from the door you enter a large internal courtyard and from which you reach the second courtyard on the opposite side.
Various rooms overlook the courtyard, which in the past were certainly stables and rooms used for agricultural purposes.
On the floor below, completely made of stone with exposed vaults, there were the cellars and there are still various tunnels dug directly into the stone, here is where the press is located.
