The building has entered the history of the city for having been inhabited first by Carlo Goldoni who resided there, practicing the profession of lawyer, with his mother and the aunt. Daniele Manin subsequently lived there. In 1868, the engineer Scala designed the layout of the camp and the monument to Manin, thus establishing the sacredness of a place much loved by the Venetian Risorgimento.
