Sometimes it is love at first sight, other times it is a feeling that grows with the passing of time, until it becomes something unique, but what is certain is that the relationship we establish with places and homes is always attributable to a intimate and profound dimension, a bond that feeds on desires and needs to be listened to. The feeling that animates the villa we are about to visit in the green heart of the Ugento Natural Park, in the immediate vicinity of the golden beaches of Pescoluse, is that of bringing the idea of all-round well-being to fruition. The extraordinary dimension of quiet of the surrounding landscape combines with the intuitive minimalism of modern architecture, made of clean lines and pure volumes, in a vision free from the superfluous, where the marvelous fullness of the voids prevails.
A particular interior concentration is already mature along the avenue that leads to the house, with the view of the sea and the landscape, which are juxtaposed on the left side, while the lush Mediterranean vegetation cloaks the living area with privacy, in a mix of wild colors and scents, which project everything in a secret and magical dimension.
The space that preludes the entrance to the house brings with it an oriental charm, with the sinuous walkway that follows the curved side of the lake in front, as if to emulate the seductive movements of a carp, not randomly recalled in the wooden artefacts scattered around the house, with the intriguing effect of softening the metric rigor of the rock, in the name of balance and harmony. The domestic journey begins with a large and bright living area, where there is a sense of freedom in the spaces, enhanced by the white walls and the chromatic uniformity of the flooring, an ideal scenario to welcome the dynamic and colorful presence of the surrounding landscape, through the main window that pushes the gaze to the horizon, triggering a new intimacy of distances. A fireplace, in an ancillary position, is accompanied by a comfortable corner sofa, outlining around itself a comfortable space for conversation and relaxation, while on the opposite side a further volume is inserted hosting the generous open kitchen, with splendid visual projection onto the garden. On both sides of the living area, along the entire Levantine side, four double bedrooms and two bathrooms with windows are beautifully arranged, with notes of character originating mainly from the furnishings and color choices, without ever giving up the creativity of combining their objects of Salento tradition and broader stylistic references.
Outside the house, in an extension of three hectares of Mediterranean scrub, mostly fenced, the most authentic and instinctive nature, susceptible to changing color with every season, appears to our eyes like a postcard in constant evolution, with passages tones that oscillate from saturated blues and greens to the entire scale of yellows, while the beauty of the bare stone remains suspended as it interacts with the sky and the sea, in the endless ecstasy of midday scents, which lead to a more unique atmospheric immersion how rare. The fact that all this takes place in the heart of the protected park of Ugento brings with it the precious guarantee of the intangibility of the surrounding nature and the panoramic view of the landscape, in the calm evidence of an extraordinary biodiversity of inestimable value.
The swimming pool area, with adjoining solarium area, is a wonder set between stone and nature, and is characterized by a removable structure, placed close to the living rock, which fully respects the idea of supporting the physicality of the place, with differences in level natural resources that lend themselves well to being exploited, without ever altering the general balance between the housing part and the surrounding nature. What we finally gather, among the whispering spaces of the plants, at the sight of the landscape that slowly glides over the sea, is the miracle of a stillness made of ancient calls and deep sighs, while time slows down its race among the scattered colors of the sky, in the suspended space of a paradise, destined to slide into our hearts.
