Description
A high end houseboat of around 250 m2 for those who love water, space art and design! Originally built in 1962, this steel cargo ship (type: Kempenaar) has been professionally transformed into a floating home in the period 2015-2017. At the moment, the ship is used as a pied-a-terre and private gallery and is as new. During the renovation, the original cargo hold has been transformed into a spectacular ‘floating loft’ of 110 m2, which serves as a living room and exhibition space. Additionally, the ship has been refurbished with an open kitchen, a pantry, a study, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a wheelhouse and an engine room. Its berth is part of the project Waterwonen Amsterdam at the Cas Oorthuyskade op IJburg, that consists of 34 water plots for independently sailing houseboats. Layout; The entrance is in the original wheelhouse, which has a view across the water towards Buiten-IJ and Steigereiland. The entrance provides access to the spacious study on the first floor with a sturdy steel floor. You then reach the huge living room using the stairs with a height of over 4.5 metres. During the renovation, the entire cargo hold has been isolated and provided with a concrete power floated floor with floor heating. In the living room is a wood burner specifically designed for the ship. Three large, customised roof windows provide daylight. The ship has an open kitchen with an oven, induction cooker and extractor fan from the Atag brand, fridge, Quooker fusion black faucet and a dishwasher. In the pantry, you can find an additional fridge freezer as well as the washing machine and dryer. At the front of the ship, there’s a podium on the mezzanine, accessible through a spiral staircase. The space in the front of the ship is used as an art display. Bedrooms; The former cabin in the back of the ship has been transformed into a spacious master bedroom and has an en-suite bathroom. Bed, floors and closets are custom-made from reused Azobe wood from the cargo hold. On the floor below are two guest bedrooms that can be reached through a hallway with portholes. Both bedrooms have a double bed. The second bathroom, with a shower and sink, is accessible from both bedrooms. Environment; The Cas Oorthuyskade is located on IJbug and can ideally be reached by car, from outside the city and Schiphol directly using the A10. You can reach Amsterdam Central in 12 minutes by tram. And those who want some leisure time can sail to Pampus in 10 minutes using the dinghy or take the sluice to the canals! Convenience stores are within walking distance. Parking is effortless and a permit can easily be obtained. Delivery; If desired, the ship is delivered turn-key with the complete inventory. About the ship; The ship is the Kempenaar type, a cargo ship to sail the canals of the South of the Netherlands and Belgium. During renovation, the ship has been shortened from 51 to 19.90 metres with the maximum length of the berth. The ship has a Certificaat van Onderzoek (CVO) (Inspection Certificate) and a functioning Iveco 500 PK motor. The central heating is provided by a ship boiler, type Kabola KB 75, manufacturing year 2018. About the water plots; The 34 water plots have been split in condominiums by the municipality and are provided as a continuous leasehold. So no difficult berth rental contacts, but a certain and transferable right of leasehold. The owners of the water plots all have the rights to the floating main pier, the breakwater, the jetty and the access buildings. This also means they are all responsible for the maintenance of these through the Association of Owners. All utilities are incorporated into the pier. Extra berth for pleasure boat; The houseboat has, between the pier and quay, access to an extra berth for a pleasure boat.
