Alaró, a beautiful village at the foot of the Sierra de Tramuntana, offers tranquillity without leaving aside the services such as petrol station, chemists, restaurants, supermarkets etc. as well as a beautiful weekly market on Saturdays in the main square of the village and thanks to the location it is a perfect village for excursions. The documented history begins in the 13th century, during the reconquest of Mallorca, with the castle being the centre of the reconquest. During the Aragonese occupation of the Kingdom of Mallorca, its Muslim inhabitants resisted in the Castle of Alaró - one of the only rock castles in Mallorca - and this was one of the last places where the Christian reconquest of the islands took place. The oldest part of the village, called Los Damunts, offers a maze of picturesque cobbled streets with beautiful stone houses, and its square, Plaza Cabrit i Bassa, stands out. Famous for its mountain called Castillo de Alaró, a visit to the restaurant Es Verger in the middle of the mountain is a must.
