Description
This castle for sale in Calenzano, in the province of Florence, dates back to the 12th century and was built at the behest of Emperor Federico Barbarossa, to defend the communication route that connected the city to the Mugello valley. The property belonged to noble local families such as the Alberti, the Guidi and the Cavalcanti. In 1300 the estate lost its original military function becoming a stately home.
The castle is immersed in a fenced park of 1.6 hectares, perfect for organizing conferences, cultural events, weddings, meetings and private parties. The interiors of the property are large and bright, host rooms for receptions and exhibitions and some suites for living rooms, one of which was the favorite home of the tenor Caruso. The park can accommodate over 250 people. The chapel of the castle, dedicated to St. Peter, is the setting for religious ceremonies.
