Come and discover this investment opportunity in Tentúgal! In addition to being a property full of history, it is located about 30 minutes from the center of Coimbra. Solar dos Gavichos: Land, house and gardens: 9,144m2 Historical note: The Gavichos family belonged to the Couceiro family - one of the oldest noble families in Tentúgal. The first was Diogo Couceiro, a native of Paço de Couceiro, located in Minho, who came to live in Tentúgal during the reigns of D. Fernando and D. João I. His sons, Rui and Bartolomeu Dias Couceiro, were noblemen in the household of Infante D. Pedro, Duke of Coimbra. Rui Dias Couceiro left several descendants, among them one who administered various estates and was the owner of the Chapel of S. Miguel. Another descendant inherited, by alliance, the Gavicho estate, established in 1630 by Jorge Lopes Gavicho, a member of the Holy Office and a very wealthy man in the region. In 1628, it was described as a noble two-storey house, with a farm at the back. Next to it is a chapel dedicated to St. George, built in 1687 by Manuel Lopes Couceiro who, after inheriting the estate, began to call himself Gavicho, a surname that was passed on to his descendants. A classic two-storey building. The façade consists of nine windows, seven of which are balcony windows on the first floor, and another nine on the ground floor, smaller and set back a little from the house's alignment (today there are only eight because one of them had a door torn out). Flanked by the façade are two taller structures: on the south side, the chapel of St. George and on the north side, the old main entrance, which is no longer used today. Chapel of Saint George: It was built in 1687 by Dr. Manuel Lopes Gavicho, with permission from Bishop-Count D. João de Mello. The first mass was held on June 25, 1687. It is not known when it was dismantled, nor the whereabouts of the images and altarpiece that were there. On Corpus Christi day, a procession with Saint George on horseback was held at the expense of the landowner. Only one member of the family was baptized in this chapel, according to the parish books of the town. The baptism took place on February 20, 1786, and the ceremony was performed by the Reverend Father Frei António de S. Tiago Botelho, a monk of Saint Jerome. The child was named after Jorge, the patron saint of the house, and was the first-born son of João António Lopes Gavicho de Amorim Pessoa, lord of the estate, and his wife D. Maria Isabel de Moura Ravasco Manuel, lady of another estate. Don't miss this opportunity! Come and see this property full of history and see for yourself its potential! Energy Rating: Exempt
