Description
The context
Cavagnolo
Cavagnolo is an Italian town of 2 059 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Turin in Piedmont. It is located at the extreme eastern tip of the province, on the hills of northern Monferrato, about 40 kilometers east of Turin.
Cavagnolo derives its name from the Celtic word Cabanne , which translated means small and low house with adjoining small farm, although it is not excluded that the name derives from the Latin word Cabannolum, which translated means hut, shelter. In fact, the symbol of Cavagnolo is an eagle, a symbol of Roman power, overlooking a wooden hut.
VILLA - Ancient prestigious residence
The charming liberty-style residence is located in Cavagnolo, in the lower Monferrato in the province of Turin, which is only 30 km away.
Commissioned by the founder of Martini & Rossi, it presents and retains its elegant shapes that are very reminiscent of the eighteenth-century villas of the Turin hills. Dating back to the early 1900s, it has large halls that open onto the Italian garden as well as a park of about 15,000 square meters populated by lime trees, beeches, cedars of Lebanon,
magnolias and centuries-old trees.
Enriched by avenues, statues, fountains and a lake with an internal spring, caves decorated with shells, all enclosed by brick walls decorated with classic liberty style vases.
The complex architecture consists of the main villa of about 1,200 square meters on 3 floors, a smaller villa of about 340 square meters next to it, garage of about 250 square meters, various outbuildings of about 300 square meters, two farmhouses of about 400 square meters and ancillary rooms. Two ancient entrances with wrought iron gates open the view on the property and its gardens. Adjacent to the complex there is a vineyard, but with another entrance and other surrounding walls, but always part of the estate. Inside, a magnificent double flight staircase, coffered ceilings and classic liberty ceilings decorated in plaster, grit and nailed-plank wood floors, original doors and radiators always in liberty style. The furniture is original of the time, enriched by some pieces made by master furniture makers of the 40s - 50s. The roof has been recently fixed, while the rest is being carefully restored and with a careful recovery of the original materials. An indoor swimming pool will also be built, enhancing the finishes and period details of which Villa Martini is rich.
