This idyllic alpine hut is situated at 2,025 m above sea level on the Passo delle Erbe, in the middle of the overwhelmingly beautiful nature at the foot of the Dolomites of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, a UNESCO World Heritage. Access is via a 700m long paved dirt road from the Passo delle Erbe car park to a turning area 100m below the mountain hut. From there, the last few meters to the hut can be reached by foot. The hut was built in the traditional architectural style in 1969 and was renovated in 2021, which included a renewal of the floor and part of the outdoor paneling. A toilet and septic tank were also installed at this time, ensuring that the mountain hut is now in very good condition. The large living area includes a kitchenette with 2-burner gas hob, a wood-burning stove for cozy warmth, a spacious dining table with corner bench and a couch, which can also be used as an additional sleeping area. There are 2 bunk beds in the bedroom next door, offering a total of 4 sleeping places. A brick-built cellar underneath the hut offers an ample storage space. The spacious terrace on the south and west side of the hut invites you to barbecue or soak up the sun in summer, offering a unique and incomparable view of the Sasso Putia, which glows a wonderful red in the evening sun due to the deep sunlight. There is currently no electricity connection, and the water supply is only guaranteed by a rainwater storage tank, although it would be possible to connect the hut to the public drinking water network and to lay the power line to the hut at the same time or install a small photovoltaic unit on the roof. The Passo delle Erbe, where the mountain hut is located, is a 1,987-meter-high mountain pass that connects the Val Badia with the Val Isarco. The pass can be reached by car all year round in around 30 minutes from St. Martin in Thurn via Antermoia in the Val Badia or from Luson or Funes in around the same time from spring to late autumn. From May to November, there are also bus routes from Bressanone and St. Martin in Thurn that comfortably take hikers comfortably up to the Passo delle Erbe. The pass is nestled between gentle pastures and steep forests in the heart of the Puez-Odle Nature Park. It offers a clear view of the mountains in the surrounding valleys, but above all the highest peak in the nature park, the Sasso Putia, whose highest point is 2,875 meters above sea level. From here you have access to one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in South Tyrol in the heart of the Dolomites.
