Quinta do Joanamigo is located on the right bank of the River Douro, in the heart of the Douro International Natural Park.
The approximately 79 hectares stretch from the bank of the River Douro to the top of the valley and are distributed among the region's crops: almond groves, olive groves and vineyards that produce the renowned Port wine.

The core of the buildings consists of the main house, agricultural facilities and a caretaker's house, built in the first half of the 20th century.
Quinta do Joanamigo tells the story of the architect Alfredo Matos Ferreira and his family.
The Quinta do Joanamigo project was part of the 'Contemporary Portuguese Architecture' exhibition at the Serralves Foundation and is available in various publications on 20th century Portuguese architecture.
With his life closely linked to its origins, the architect Matos Ferreira has gathered texts of his own and the testimonies of the architects Alvaro Siza, Sergio Fernandez and Vitor Oliveira, in an exclusive work called 'Memoria', with editorial coordination by the architect Manuel Mendes, where we are given unique details about this singular place.
