Pordenone. In the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia we offer the exclusive Castello di Cosa manor which has a long and illustrious history of noble dominion. Its origins date back to the 9th century, when a fortress was built for defensive purposes on the Tagliamento.
The castle, immersed in a park of centuries-old trees, retains its original rectangular shape with 3 corner towers (the fourth was demolished during the Great War) and is surrounded by large 12th century walls.
The historic body main floor is composed of 3 floors:
The ground floor of approximately 1,060 m2 and a height of 3.40 meters is composed of a large storage area (it housed a 'wine museum'), toilets with anti-services and a central thermal, an archive, an office in the south-east tower, a rustic kitchen and a dining room in the south-west tower.
From this floor it is possible to access the aging cellar, located approximately 1.5 meters away. below ground level.
The first floor, or main floor, (total approx. 780 m2 and height 4.50 m with exposed wooden beams), reachable among other things from the double external staircase, hosts 4 halls frescoed by the Friulian painter Mario Rabassi between 1989 and 1991; the images represented have a close connection both with the wine context and with the history of the building, in fact there are the coats of arms of the city and of the families linked to the Castle together with allegorical images regarding grapes and wine. These rooms, given their large capacity, are suitable for the organization of concerts, music and dance evenings, conferences, weddings, themed parties, exhibitions and more. The floors, with underfloor heating, are all covered with Venetian granite. There are also toilets with anti-services and a large open terrace of 280 m2. approx.
On the same level in the south-east tower there is a room already used as a kitchen and in the south-west tower a processing room, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.
The second floor (also about 780 m2) is entirely intended as an attic in which the old wooden beams of the roof are still present, a room in the south-east tower and one in the south-west, from which by going up another floor, you can reach the 'Belvedere Tower'. Finally, the north tower is entirely used as a service stairwell connecting the three floors of the building.
The castle is equipped with a heating system running on mains methane gas.
Adjacent to the castle there is a vast warehouse consisting of two floors above ground for a total of over 500 m2 which also houses a storage room, bathroom, laboratory and cellar (with double height) and a closed porch. The property is completed by an adjacent building spread over two floors of 79 m2. approx. each, intended for the caretaker's house, some warehouses and closets with a total surface area of approximately 64 m2.
The ancient stables have been renovated and used as guest quarters or bed & breakfasts.
The Cosa Castle is located in the Cosa area in the municipality of San Giorgio della Richinvelda at approx. 28 km from Pordenone and 31 km from Udine.
