Isacco Artom, contributed to the unification of Italy, together with Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, was ambassador and minister for the negotiations of the Peace of Vienna in 1866, prevented the entry of Franz Joseph into Rome, revealing himself to be the true architect of the "Breach on Rome". Alessandro also lived there, the best known of all the Artoms, inventor of the radio direction finder as well as countless patents, donated to the State. Its directional radio antennas are today the basis of telecommunications, radio and television, maritime, aerospace, radio astronomy and radar astronomy systems.
