Portovenere is a medieval village on the Ligurian Riviera located south of the Cinque Terre and on the western shore of the promontory of La Spezia; in 2001 the regional natural park of Portovenere was established with the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinello, which has been included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
It is a magical and fascinating place, surrounded by crystal clear waters and cliffs overlooking the sea: it is also characterized by the imposing Doria Castle, the Church of S. Pietro, symbol of the village, the colorful "tower houses", developed vertically and tightly side by side and finally the characteristic fishing port.
