Description
The present property could be likened to a blank canvas made of the best 14th century livery looking for its artist to create his masterpiece. This property is made up of a derelict house likely to have been built by a Spanish knight around the 15th century.
Its location is one of the most well-known, in the Colloquium area, about 50 meters from the legendary Knights' Street, a medieval street surrounded by Gothic buildings of the 15th and 16th centuries that housed the knights according to their linguistic groups (today they house local public services, exhibition areas and Foreign Consular buildings)
This house is one of the largest in the Old Town with a total area of 458 m² plot. The existing structure has four levels with a total area of 541 m². On the fourth floor there is a wonderful terrace of about 100 m² with unobstructed panoramic views of the harbor, the Old Town, the Grand Master's palace and the open sea stretching to the Turkish coast.
A lush green garden of 285 m² surrounds three sides of the building and includes a deep well and a water tank. The garden grounds are on two levels and are separated by the old Byzantine wall. After renovation, the garden would be ideal for social activities such as parties, receptions or recitals.
Location: Located next to the main town of Rhodes, north of the island, 13km from the International airport of Rhodes and also next to the main harbour.
Unique features: The Medieval Old Town of Rhodes is one of the best preserved citadels in Europe which in 1988 was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When entering the Old Town one steps into another era with numerous alleyways and historical landmarks to discover. One of the most obvious sights is the Grand Master’s Palace (15th. Century) which can be approached from the famous cobbled Street of the Knights. With a mixture of minarets from the Ottoman period, medieval structures from the Italian period, an assortment of tourist shops and watering holes for a cosmopolitan nightlife, the Old Town offers endless fascination in its own individual orb.
Accessibility: Access into the Old Town of Rhodes is permitted only for residents who have their own vehicles. There are electric taxis that take passengers from the gates of the Old Town inside the walls.
Investment potential: As there is only limited space available, plot prices are very high. Prices are therefore highly dependent on the state of the relevant plot or building.
