Description
Inside: accommodation at Trulli Andrea is spread over two immaculately restored sets of trulli. Both have a light and airy feel and both are furnished with considerable style and attention to detail. The main entrance of the first set of trulli takes one into a large dining area with vaulted stone ceilings and a beautiful table seating 12. Two wide arches lead from this space to the excellent kitchen, which overlooks the pool area, a series of sitting areas furnished with design pieces and comfy sofas, and a study.
The main double bedroom, which has views of the pool, is accessed via a corridor leading from the study, while the other two bedrooms, a double and a double-twin, are accessed from the dining area. All three bedrooms have beautifully finished en-suite shower rooms and the double-twin has its own access to the surrounding terraces. The second set of trulli, situated about 40m from the first, is very similar in style and layout. The main entrance takes one into a large open plan space, which includes a dining area with table seating 10, and two well-articulated living areas, one with a designer fireplace, and a smaller one with a pair of deep sofas and a wall-mounted TV. A small corridor leads from this area leads to the sleeping quarters, which comprise a main double suite with en-suite shower room, a second double bedroom, also with en-suite shower room, and a double-twin bedroom, whose shower room is accessed from near the dining room.
Outside: Trulli Andrea sits on a hill top at the centre of a 2.5-hectare olive estate. This lofty position affords guests not only sweeping 360-degree vistas of the Valle d'Itria's wooded hills but total privacy too. The houses are set amongst a large expanse of manicured lawns, which are crisscrossed by paths, peppered with olive trees, and delimited by large expanses of stone-flagged terraces
But Trulli Andrea's truly unique feature is its mirrored sets of outdoor amenities: each house has a splendid sea-salt water pool (one of which has an infinity edge and a Jacuzzi corner), a comfortably furnished sitting area and a dreamy al fresco dining area served by a barbecue zone (one is equipped with a professional standard gas barbecue, the other with a traditional barbecue and wood-burning pizza oven).
Trulli Andrea is situated at the southern end of the Valle d'Itria near the charming towns of Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni, this latter a beautifully restored baroque centre with stunning panoramic views. The Valle d'Itria, however, is probably best known for its trulli, and nowhere are these more in evidence than in the picture-postcard town of Alberobello. Locorotondo, Cisternino and Martina Franca are also well worth a visit. If you are looking for beaches, the Adriatic coast offers long stretches of sand and some well recommended lidos from which to enjoy it. Further afield, Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto and Monopoli are justly famous towns waiting for you to unlock their secrets.
