Description
Stunning traditional Asturian manor style stone house and English style pavilion, set on a plot of land of 6,000 m2 of manicured gardens and forest.
The property was fully restored between 1996 and 1999. The owners took exquisite care on maintaining the features and main characteristics of the original house, but implementing new foundations and integrating the original features into a modern hidden structure and facilities, giving as a result a solid, core structure of pillars, slabs and beams made of reinforced concrete, all of it overlayed with the original house’s elements such as wood, stone and forge. It was a labour of love.
The property is just within 10km of stunning beaches such as Rodiles, La Griega, La Isla and La Espasa beach, and 8km from the market town of Villaviciosa. Asturias airport is 72km away, while Santander´s airport and ferry port is 148km from the property.
The house is 815m2 over 3 floors and it is sold furnished.
On the ground floor we can find the main communal areas: entrance hall, large living room with a fireplace and exit to the beautiful porch with stone pillars, sitting room with a fireplace that gives way to the main stone staircase, library, dining room, wine cellar, kitchen-diner, utility room, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and 1 toilet.
On the first floor, we can find 7 bedrooms (1 with living room), all with en suite bathrooms and built-in wardrobes.
On the second floor, there are 4 more bedrooms (1 is triple with a living room and a small loft), all with suite bathrooms and built-in wardrobes.
The property was opened as an hotel in 2000 and it was soon considered to be one of the best rural hotels in Asturias, obtaining several outstanding references from important travel critics such as Fernando Gallardo. This lead to the property to being soon listed on many of the reference guides on the sector, such as “Hoteles con Encanto” (“Charming hotels”), “Turismo de Silencio” (“Silence Tourism”), “Michelin guide”, “Special Places to Stay in Spain”, “Rusticae”, “Domus Selecta Aurea” and even the prestigious luxury hotel association Relais Chateaux contacted the owners to propose them to join the association, which would have been the first hotel in Asturias to achieve such recognition.
It was running as a hotel until 2005, when the owners decided to use it as their private residence.
The first wedding to be ever celebrated in the property was that of a family friend, in 2008. The celebration was a total success, and all attendees agreed the impressive house with its gardens would satisfy an increasing demand for wedding venues with a ‘special charm’.
Following this idea, an English-style pavilion was designed to be carefully integrated in the house’s garden.
The pavilion was built using a stylish combination of stone, wood and glass, enclosing an area of 376m2 that involves a wedding dining room, a professional kitchen, a porch and a dancing floor. It has hosted celebrations for more than 300 hundred people. It also has three restrooms for men and three for women.
Soon after, it was chosen by TELVA BODAS (a prestigious national wedding magazine) as one of the 6 most beautiful places for a wedding celebration in the whole of Spain.
The property is ideal for someone who is looking for an exclusive home, close to the main cities in Asturias as well as the coast and the mountains.
Located in this discrete enclosure, the house can host up to 25 people to stay overnight and up to 300 people if the landlord wanted to organise private parties.
It is also ideal for someone who is looking for a business with a high potential return on investment. It could be reopened and run as a hotel as well as a venue for weddings or corporate events and, since it has a professional kitchen, it could also be used as a restaurant. All these activities could be perfectly integrated to produce a highly profitable business.
