The exclusive property is located inside the historic Platania palace, an 18th century fortress on the Lungomare D'Ortigia. Originally, the building was a lay convent of the brotherhood of the Holy Spirit, rising right next to the church of the same name. After the earthquake it was acquired by a noble family who restored and partly rebuilt it. Even today it is possible to enjoy some architectural friezes on the facade of the building and inside the apartment, which maintains the most characteristic exposed stone typical of Ortigia.
The property, well exposed and full of light, is located on the first noble floor and extends around the entire perimeter of the facade.
The carpet floor is made of Ragusa pitch stone and was created with the last extraction of the quarry. Some details of the floor are instead made with light Comiso stone, giving overall harmony to the individual rooms of the building.
Like the most characteristic of the apartments in Ortigia, we access the property through a large entrance, which takes us towards a long corridor that runs throughout it. All the rooms on the facade side, having exposure to the sea, have been used as lounges or relaxation areas. On the same level we also have a bathroom and a built-in kitchen covered with hand-painted ceramics. The sleeping area is well disengaged and consists of 2 comfortable bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The floor is completed by a laundry area located on the internal side with access to a private terrace with accommodation for air conditioning machines.
Finally, from an internal staircase, made of stone and iron, we access the upper level of the property. Here we find a second kitchen, a large bedroom with access to a second terrace and a wonderful walk-in closet.
The apartment is certainly one of a kind, in terms of size, characteristics and location.
