Economy
The main economic activity is agriculture, practised especially in the floodplains of the Ribeira de Seixe; the main crops are sweet potatoes, maize and peanuts.
Another major activity is inshore fishing, whose catches include bream, sea bream, sea bass and various species of shellfish.
Sport fishing, along with bathing and nature activities, are the main tourist activities in this parish.
Handicrafts are mainly based on leatherwork and lace
Culture and heritage
Among the heritage and cultural elements present in this parish are the various archaeological remains of the Mirense people, the Odeceixe Mother Church, the Windmill and the Odeceixe Winery Museum.
Also noteworthy is the Odeceixe Bridge, an important road construction project from the 1930s.
In terms of gastronomy, this region has several typical dishes, such as Feijoada à minha maneira, which use agricultural and fish products, reflecting the strong relationship between these two activities.
In terms of natural heritage, the parish is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which contains a wealth of landscape, fauna and flora, both on the coast and inland.
