Cartagena de Indias officially the Tourist and Cultural District of Cartagena de Indias (abbreviated Cartagena de Indias DT y C.) is a Colombian district[6]? since 1991.[7]?Located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. It was founded on June 1, 1533 by Pedro de Heredia.[8]? Capital of the department of Bolívar. Its historic center called the "Walled City" was declared a National Heritage Site of Colombia in 1959 and by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1984.[9]?Over time Cartagena has developed its urban area, preserving the historic center and becoming one of the most important famous tourist destination in Colombia and the Caribbean.
