DESCRIPTION OF DIAMANTE AREAOn August 29, 1987, during the government of President Miguel de la Madrid, the expropriation of 265 hectares in Puerto Marqués began for the beginning of tourism development that was initially called Punta Diamante. Acapulco Diamante also known as Punta Diamante is a of the three (3) tourist areas into which the port of Acapulco is divided on the southern coast of Mexico. This is the newest and most developed and invested part of the port made up of exclusive hotels and resorts from international chains residential complexes condominiums luxury and private villas spas restaurants shopping areas and a golf course. Because it has large hotel chains it makes it the most exclusive areas of the country. It begins on the Scenic Highway in Las Brisas, includes Puerto Marqués and Punta Diamante and extends to Barra Vieja Beach. It is located 10 minutes from the Acapulco International Airport and after the golden zone it has the highest concentration of hotel rooms in Acapulco.A large part of Acapulco's nightlife is located on Escénica Avenue with the best nightclubs and luxury restaurants serving international and Mexican cuisine.
