Description
The whole Sant’Ignazio building complex was born as an eighteenth-century Jesuit monastery, later declined in Villa Machiavelli and Villa Covoni, through the wise preservation of its spaces. Villa Covoni it’s an elegant historical dwelling sited in Benedetto da Maiano Street right on the hillside of Florence, where personalities such as Herman Hesse and Le Corbusier were hooked by the beauty of Fiesole’s houses and from the luxuriant nature of Dante’s city.
Strategically located, Villa Covoni is few minutes away from Fiesole and just six kilometres from Florence’s Historic centre . The Villa’s position surely represents a key element of the building. Since the fourteenth century Fiesole has been considered one of the most exclusive suburb around Florence and, even today, is the wealthiest district of Tuscany where influential celebrities have their residence.
The district overlooks Florence’s cathedral and its historic centre looking north, the countryside and the vineyard pointing south.
