Description
Large house located on Duende Street, near Plaza del Conde Luque. The Guadix Town Hall was formerly located there.~The building has suffered segregations of great importance, which has transformed the original appearance of the construction. It was part of the same property that borders it on the left. Even so, numerous ancient construction elements remain identifiable such as the façade, the stairs, the structure of the patio, the slabs, the tower, etc.~The two-story house is organized around a quadrangular patio with galleries. In addition, there is a second patio, surely intended for service and in the background a garden space (currently it is a patio with a private pool, barbecue and rest area). ~The façade is featured by a lintel stone doorway supported on two columns with decorated corbels, which currently belongs to the adjacent property. Above it was a small cantilevered balcony and the façade was crowned by a cornice with wooden corbels. ~At both ends, two balconies were placed with three semicircular arches in front and two on the side. However, the corner corresponding to this plot was demolished, although the projection corresponding to its floor is still marked on the façade. ~The façade has also been remodeled, with the opening of new access openings for people and the garage and the placement of a stone plinth that clashes with the rest of the building.~History tells us that this house belonged to noble descendants of Ali Abenaxara, leader of the Muslims of Fiñana, who collaborated with the Catholic Monarchs for the delivery and capitulation of this city of Almería (1489), receiving different privileges. The following year he would participate in the appeasement of the Mudejar rebellion in Guadix and Fiñana, thereby obtaining different grants in the repartimiento of Guadix. These descendants were the Piédrola Narváez. Later it passed into the hands of the descendants of the Alarcón family, who would move to the Hospital alley, while Don Luis Alarcón y Ariza bought the palace of Conde Luque or the Piedróla Narváez family. ~They have everything documented in a book registered in Carlos Asenjo's library.~
