Description
KRK ISLAND, VRBNIK - An attractive complex of houses in the first row to the sea
It consists of a total of three renovated stone houses, located on a cliff above the sea, which function as one unit. The house has access from two sides. Considering the position, it has excellent privacy and an open view of the harbor and the sea. Two of the houses are single-story and consist of a room and a bathroom, while the third is a one-story building. On the first floor there is a kitchen, dining room, living room and toilet, as well as access to a covered terrace that can be used as a summer dining room. The ground floor is connected by an internal staircase, where there is a bedroom and a bathroom, as well as an exit to the lower terrace. This space can be converted into a separate apartment. The special feature of these houses is the beautiful view from all rooms. There is a barbecue area in the garden. The property is connected by a private staircase that descends to the sea. Directly below the house there is a hidden, pebbly beach, the only access to which is through a natural cave. A parking space, about 150 m from the building, can be rented from the municipality.
Vrbnik, without a doubt, is one of the most famous Croatian places. This is thanks to its Glagolitic heritage and the famous folk song with a distinctive melody and content, which was interpreted and arranged in a series of variants Vrbniča nad morem. And Vrbnik, like other old castles on the island, is located high up, at a height of almost 50 meters, and in a really special place on a cliff that literally plunges into the sea. Along with Šilo in Dobrinjština, it is the only larger place on the east coast of the island of Krk. It was mentioned for the first time in 1100. The inhabitants were mostly engaged in agriculture, less in seafaring and fishing. Today, the most famous product of Vrbnica field and Vrbnik in general is the golden yellow wine - Žlahtina; it became famous on a wider Croatian scale. According to the stories of older locals, before wine became famous, grains were grown in the field to feed families that had more members than today. In such conditions, the vines were grown along the edges of the fields because there was no market and wine was produced only for their own needs. With its rich history, Vrbnik is called the cradle of Croatian literacy and is certainly one of the oldest places on the island of Krk. Vrbnik is dominated by narrow streets, so it is not surprising that the narrowest street in the world is located here.
