Description
"Athena" is a house
that overflows with elegance, class and character ,
has been the meeting point of the Athenian society, worldwide celebrities, intellectuals, royalties and world’s elite .
In 1981 a well known Athenian painter bought this abandoned for 45 years house, being intrigued by the layout of it, the view and the so far neglected area of Thisio.
However ,the view of Parthenon was overwhelming for the painter and together with the well known architect Vasilis Tsegis , they performed a total restoration of the house achieving fluid communication among the different spaces and creating a piece of art from side to side.
The painter was reforming every little corner of the house, with colors and artifacts adding unique furniture, sculptures and paintings that create the ambience of a museum of his two main admirations: Ancient Greece and Beauty
You are overwhelmed by the history of the house when you get to the painter’s atelier where paintings that stand today in the National Gallery, in the Museum of Modern Art in N. York, in Tate Gallery in London, in Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, have been created there.
The pool, the patio and the terrace with the 360 view of ancient and modern Athens have offered all the comforts for galas, open houses and tributes to the famous painter giving to Thisio a new glory for the first time after the years of ancient Greece.
This legendary property is embedded in the best location as evaluated by the ancient Greeks.
When you are at "Athena" you really feel that you live in Athens because, as the painter says: Acropolis is the only diffused landmark of Athens.
Named after Theseus, the mythical king of Athens, Thissio, just 1.5 kms from the city centre, is enviably one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Athens as it skirts the Acropolis and all the other ancient sites.
Unique features: If ever there is a neighborhood where you’d feel the humbling sweep of history, it is Thissio. From the majestic views of the Acropolis to Pnyx Hill, where democracy was born, past the Stoa of Attalos and the National Observatory (which also hosts art installations), and the pedestrianized Apostolos Pavlou to admire it all from, Thissio is one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in Athens. It is a peaceful Athenian middle-class neighbourhood with many cultural and edible treasures.
Accessibility: Extremely well-connected by the metro (Thissio and Monastiraki stations), tram and bus services to the rest of Athens. The airport is 50 minutes to an hour away by express train and direct buses.
Investment potential: This area is right in the centre of Athens, an area that has always enjoyed a lot of interest from buyers. Guaranteed returns on investment—
