Description
It is located in the Alentejo Plain, between Alto and Baixo Alentejo with
an extension of 44ha (440,000 mt2), a Hotel, a V6 house, a cellar, and a 250 m2 warehouse.
Since 21 ha are vineyards (with a drip irrigation system, we can find several planted varieties,
such as the white Antao Vaz and Arinto, or the red Alicante Bouchet, Alfrocheiro, Aragones,
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon.
It has a cellar for the production of different wines, with the respective Trademarks, either in
stainless steel vats or in centenary clay pots, some of the Talha Wines produced at the
Herdade have won several 1st prizes in wine competitions.
The estate also has an orange orchard (New Hall and Valencia Late varieties), and Laranja-pera,
two olive groves, one of which is a recent one of the Cobrancosa variety, with drip irrigation,
and a traditional one with the Galega variety, with trees that are over 1000 years old.
We can find in Herdade das Ratoeiras a modern hotel unit which promotes Rural Eno-Turismo,
has 6 double rooms, with very good areas, all rooms have a balcony for the relaxing landscape
as far as the eye can see.
On the top floor of the building is the breakfast room, where artisanal jams, honey obtained
from beehives on the Quinta, and fresh fruit are served, as well as the famous bread from
Vidigueira.
(The hotel has the potential (with municipal authorization) to expand the number of rooms.
The annual occupancy rate is 70% per year.)
There is also an Agricultural Warehouse with 250 m2, where all agricultural equipment for
rural work throughout the Estate is kept.
The estate has two natural springs, 6 wells, which provide all the water needed throughout the
year, for the vineyard, olive grove and orange grove.
