Description
'Herdade da Quinta da Barca' with an area of 161.5 hectares, is located in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Coa, in the heart of the Douro Interior, demarcated region of Port Wine.
The property has a folded morphology, the relief is somewhat rugged, and it overlooks the River Coa, with which it borders on one side by an extensive bank. It was on this property, although on the other side of the river, that the famous cave paintings were found, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It should be noted that the property used to have a large extension of vineyards benefiting from benefits attributed by the Port Wine Institute. Today it is totally deactivated, losing in parallel the rights to the 'benefit', but still highly vocationed to receive again this important culture in the property, resuscitating a vast plantation of vines, at the mercy of the presentation of an application for the effect.
The property, still possessed 6 thousand traditional olive trees, an orange grove and almond trees, in addition to some houses, now in ruins, including the family house, all omitted in the matrix. In some parts of the land, especially where it is higher, we find some rocky outcrops, less productive.
The accesses are made by tarmac road and dirt road for about 5 Kms, for the time being, passable in 4X4, that can be naturally improved, since it well deserves it. Electricity is some distance away, maybe about 1,5 Km.
The farm has an appraisal from Credito Agricola in 2010, which gives it, precisely the value that is being asked for it today.
The Herdade da Quinta da Barca, stands out for its rare characteristics, although it needs to be totally reconverted and worked on, requiring a significant investment, but, as they say, it is a 'rough diamond, yet to be polished'.
Place with a lot of privacy about 2 hours from Oporto. (Ref 562-1).
