The historic Quinta da Picanceira or Quinta dos Machados, dating from 1883 and with more than 40 hectares, is located about 8 km from the village of Ericeira and consists of multiple agricultural buildings, the guest house and the palatial manor house or main house that, together, total about 5 thousand m2 of gross built area.
The palatial manor house with about 300 m2 per floor, is divided into ground floor, ground floor and attic and has a total of 18 rooms, composed of the following divisions:
Kitchen, Pantry, Pantry, Laundry, Library, Office, Dining Room, Large Lounge, Fireplace Room, Small Living Room, 11 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms and a large Attic.
The remaining buildings that flank the main house are:
On one side is the so-called 'guest house' or 'summer house' with 5 rooms on the ground floor and 11 rooms on the 1st floor totalling about 550 m2, and this building is vacant.
Also on the same side is the set of buildings consisting of old stables, barn, cellar and mill with a gross area of about 850 m2, already recovered and converted into kitchen, bathrooms and banquet rooms.
On the opposite side is the building with about 350 m2 per floor, consisting of the wooden barrel cellar on the ground floor and a large barn above.
On the same side, next to the main gate of the Quinta, is the building called 'entrance press' with about 275 m2.
Also on the same side, there are 2 more wineries with about 220 m2 each, of which one is vacant.
Still on the same side but closer to the main house, there are the buildings called 'boiler house' with about 100 m2, the 'office' with about 150 m2, the 'support house' with about 60 m2 and the 'chalet' with approximately 55 m2.
Passing the secondary gate, at the back of the main house, there is the building called 'house of the hunters' with about 150 m2, the 'cowshed' with approximately 1000 m2, the 'greenhouse' with about 70 m2 and finally a small building called 'atelier' with about 20 m2.
To the south of the main house are the swimming pool and gardens with several boxwood beds connected to each other by volcanic stone pavement brought from Sao Miguel, birthplace of Domingos Dias Machado, the founder of the historic Quinta dos Machados.
The cobbled area called 'central courtyard' that extends from the entrance of the Quinta to the main house and which is flanked by the various agricultural buildings, totals about 1900 m2.
The agricultural land totals about 40 hectares, distributed as follows:
The area of fruit crops totals about 20 hectares
The vineyard area totals about 15 hectares
The area of agroforestry cultivation totals about 5 hectares.
