With a robust background in investment management, Walker spent nearly a decade in marketing at Thornburg Investment Management in Santa Fe. His finance career began in 1994 when he earned his Series 7 license and started at The Principal in Houston. He then moved on to American General Corporation as an institutional money markets trader, where he built significant relationships, including a key one with AIM Management Group (now part of Invesco). AIM later recruited him to their institutional marketing group as a portfolio desk liaison. Walker’s career in investment management provided him with a deep understanding of monetary policy, economic issues, and bond markets—knowledge that is crucial to understanding mortgage markets and, by extension, housing markets. He frequently shares his insights on his blog, The New Mexico Life.
