The Splendid Mirror Houses on the Outskirts of Bolzano
The Mirror Houses can be found in the north of Italy, not far from Bolzano. Designed by architect Peter Pichler, the two luxury Italian properties are merged in the Alto-Atesine Dolomites, creating a wonderful harmonic fusion between the unique design and the breathtaking setting.
The unusual project was commissioned by a client who resides in the area, in a restored farmhouse which dates back to the sixties. The exterior of the properties are completely covered in mirrored glass which reflects the surrounding Meleti. The vast sky and the encompassing natural elements are multiplied by this desirable mirrored effect. In order to avoid putting birds at risk, a stratification system covered in UV was installed.
The two similar yet different constructions are positioned next to each other, with contradicting heights and width. A lengthy wall divides the gardens, balconies and pathways in each of the properties. Skylights are found in the ceilings for increased ventilation and to take full advantage of the outdoor natural light.
Each unit consists of a kitchen/living room, a luxury bedroom with an ensuite, a small cellar and parking. Needless to say, privacy is guaranteed in these homes of such a high design caliber. The majority of both houses and their glass facades are east facing. In order to streamline the aspect of the two properties, and to allow for an impressive view of the surrounding area, the holiday homes are fixed slightly higher than the ground level. The underlying space, provides a perfect parking spot.
The two units are almost invisible, camouflaged beautifully into their spectacular setting. Both units achieve complete and utter privacy in two properties that almost become one with the backdrop that embraces their modern yet discreet design.A getaway in this haven of a spot, amidst the majestic mountains, immersed in nature in a high-end property of this level with its outstanding design, is sure to send you home regenerated and fresh.
