Description

Marcia Taranto is a native New Yorker who has been in the real estate industry for more than 25 years. Born and bred in Manhattan, she has lived and worked in this ever-evolving City and has been involved in every aspect of real estate from property management, co-op/condo conversions, development and, of course, sales. She has deservedly earned the reputation as a knowledgeable professional who guides her customers through a continually changing real estate market. Marcia has achieved the distinction of being named as one of NRT’s top 1,000 Sales Associates out of 64,000 sales associates nationwide.
Marcia’s strong familiarity and background in management give her that extra edge in being intimately acquainted with real estate on more than a superficial level. She knows her neighborhoods, her properties, board requirements and, very importantly, what questions should be asked. She is an invaluable asset to someone seeking to sell or buy a property.
Marcia has brokered both residential and commercial properties. Her sale of 521 West 22nd Street, also known as 530 West 22nd Street, a 37,000-square foot warehouse building, for use as an art gallery represented a turning point for Chelsea and the start of its transformation into an art gallery mecca. Her residential sales are numerous and her knowledge of the City is unrivaled.
Apart from real estate, Marcia’s passion is dance. Her BA degree is in English and her Master’s degree is in Theater. She has served on the board of directors of the Boca Ballet Theater and is currently on the board of directors of the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company. She is a member of the National Arts Club where she maintains a strong involvement with the arts.
During her real estate career, Marcia has been a frequent speaker and participant on panel discussions focused on real estate. She has also been invited to serve on the panels of Civic Organizations and was honored to be invited to participate in the Martin Luther King Day panel discussion hosted by The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). She was one of the original members of the Association of Real Estate Women, the first organization for women to leave its footprint on the industry. She is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and has been a member of Professional Women in Real Estate, New York Association of Real Estate Managers, Association of Building Owners and Managers and the Building and Owners Management Association. Marcia has published articles in trade papers and magazines such as Real Estate Weekly, The New York Real Estate Journal and Better Buildings. She has been an instructor for Licensed Schools where she taught classes in real estate and construction to salespersons and brokers. She is the consummate professional.
