Description

Set in the idyllic village atmosphere of Fish Hoek (Fish Corner) this office boasts optimal shop front advertising with two large windows able to display over 60 properties at one time. Covering the False Bay area from the seaside suburb of St James through to the historic naval town of Simon’s Town. St James is a primarily residential area but has a beach characterised by its colourful bathing boxes and safe bathing, which visitors flock to every summer. The neighbouring village of Kalk Bay (Chalk Bay) is fast becoming one of the trendiest seaside villages in Cape Town. The home to many artists, it is nice to stroll along the main street with its long rows of antique shops, art galleries, arts and craft shops, bookshops and various eateries, all set below authentic Victorian houses with their narrow lanes and cobbled streets. It reflects its cosmopolitan heritage in its art, architecture and local cuisine, while still remaining a vibrant fishing harbour. Fish Hoek, is surrounded by rugged mountains and has one of the safest, and arguably most beautiful, beaches for swimming in Cape Town. The beach is a playground for children and popular with both locals and visitors alike. This historical village has great archaeological significance too, as the remains of a pre-historic man, called Fish Hoek man, was found in the now famous Peers Cave just above the village, in 1927.The surrounding mountains are also famous for the large number of complex caves in sandstones. Fish Hoek has a balmy Mediterranean climate and is spared the hot summer days by the frequent visits of the south easterly gales known locally as the “Cape Doctor”. This makes the area popular with both retired people and families alike and is, as a residential area, an energetic and growing community with many facilities available for the vast range of residents choosing to settle here. Simon’s Town is a village and an important naval base and harbour for the last two centuries. Named after Simon Van der Stel, an early governor of the Cape Colony, the land rises steeply from near the water’s edge with the picturesque village boxed in along the shoreline by the heights above. Many exclusive unique and magnificent homes have been built, over time, along the mountainside, taking full advantage of the incredible views of the bay and far away mountains and some of the most awe inspiring sunrises and sunsets in the cape. It also has attracted some more unusual residents, in a rare colony of African penguins, who chose to settle at Boulders Beach, since 1985. Boulders Beach has small secluded coves with white sandy beaches and calm, safe, warm, waters, and is good for people too! Slightly further back from the Simon’s Bay area is the small but growing area called Glencairn and Glencairn Heights, set between two beautiful mountains, some of the oldest houses in the Cape Peninsula region are found here. This growing community also has houses built high up on the mountain, giving residents the most exquisite views from every angle. The False Bay area with its unique heritage and unmatched views is a haven for both locals and tourists alike and the exceptional comradeship of the village lifestyle mixed in with a blend of wonderful, welcoming residents, makes this office a buzzing hive of fascinating activity.
