Description
Licensed as a realtor in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, longtime Bucks County, Pa., resident Val Patterson began her real-estate sales career after assisting in the marketing of hundreds of luxury properties and thousands of properties overall as the long-time Director of Marketing at a Bucks County-based Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate. These properties include high-value, record-setting home sales in southeastern Pennsylvania. This experience helped her develop a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of consumer behavior in the marketplace. She is now based in the Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty Lambertville office.
Prior to entering the world of residential real estate in 2006, she worked as a producer and editor for The Wall Street Journal Online’s residential and commercial real-estate channels and as a production and publishing associate at a not-for-profit in Bethlehem, Pa.
“It’s a privilege to be part of Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty,” says Patterson. “With a renowned brand and a world-class marketing platform, I bring expertise and experience to clients at all price points.”
After growing up in Allentown, Pa., and living for a time in Champaign-Urbana, Ill., Patterson eventually moved to a c. 1806 stone house in Solebury Township in Bucks County, which accelerated her interest in architecture and real estate. She is happy to share her enthusiasm for older homes – and newer construction, too -- with buyers and sellers. “It’s important to me that my clients feel informed and educated about the sales process at every step, and in particular, I want them to feel confident about the real-estate decisions they are making,” she says.
Patterson’s interest in historical houses expanded to Philadelphia over the past 15 years. She is an enthusiastic fan of the city and its collection of 19th-century homes as well as some of its newer construction. “It’s been fascinating to see firsthand the development in some city neighborhoods in just the past 15 years,” says Patterson. “Philadelphia has so much to offer with world-class art, music, healthcare, higher ed and restaurants, and its real estate is an outstanding value compared to Manhattan. It offers everything one needs to live well in a metropolitan setting.”
A longtime organic gardener who learned how to raise vegetables at her grandfather’s side, Patterson enjoys cooking, searching for the best Indian restaurants wherever she’s traveling, fitness and reading nonfiction. She also volunteers with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Rescue USA’s Pennsylvania chapter, helping to transport and foster dogs in need. Patterson also serves on the Boards of the Riverside Symphonia and The Cavalier Brigade and supports the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Philadelphia Orchestra and Lulu’s Rescue.
