Description
William Castel grew up in Ridgefield, NJ. He was the oldest of three sons of Dorothy and William Castel. His dad was a Construction Electrician and in the early years and his mom was a devoted housewife and mom...They were both big sports fans, especially baseball as from a very early age they taught their sons how to play baseball and to "work hard at whatever you do". Dad coached William and his brother Kenny's Little League Baseball Team to three straight championship seasons
William developed a love for basketball as he approached Middle School years and spent countless hours practicing and developing his skills. He went on to have a very good HS career in both basketball and baseball and was awarded the Annual Brian Piccolo Award. He was chosen to participate and represent Bergen County in the Bergen County vs Hudson County HS Basketball All-Star Game. William had the opportunity to play College Basketball for Ramapo College as he was recruited by them and a couple of other schools, but at the last minute decided not to play and chose to work at Shoprite and coach a Recreation Basketball Team in Ridgefield while attending college. He earned a BS Degree in Education from Montclair State University and he eventually earned a MA Degree in Administration from New Jersey City University. It was the coaching that led him to a 25-year career as a Teacher and Basketball Coach!
William met his fiancée , Patricia, 15 years ago and have been together ever since and lived in Paramus, New Jersey along with Patricia's three children Jennifer, Alexis, and Jimmy. William considers them his stepchildren. Seeing the children grow up and to be successful and responsible young adults has brought both Patricia and William much joy. It is the love and support from Patricia and family which has enriched William's life and being present for Alexis's marriage to Rich on September 30, 2017, and then the recent birth of their daughter, Samantha, have been some great moments. Yes, Patricia and William love being grandparents!
