Involved in both local and international charities, Katie has an impressive list of service to others. She co-founded a charity to fund wells in South Sudan. She has been on trips to Africa to work with orphans, and to Nicaragua to build houses. She has hosted numerous fund-raisers for charities including Doctors Without Borders and Nelson Mandela Day. She has spearheaded community clean-ups, participated in a clean-up on Sable Island, and has been involved in rescuing and placing numerous dogs.
A proven athlete, Katie has run eight marathons, and consistent with all of her other activities, she used these events to raise money for charities such as The Healing Hands of Haiti, Bide-awhile animal shelter, and the SPCA. She also took the time to share her running skills and experience as a coach for a local elementary school through the Doctors NS program.
Katie’s commitment to “People First” has been proven by the way that she has chosen to live her life, surrounding herself with people who hold the same values, friends and colleagues who inspire her on a daily basis.
