Description
Liberty Kalergis was born in Oxford, England but moved to Charlottesville, VA at a very young age. As a result, she had the unique childhood experience of establishing hometown roots in Virginia, while frequently returning to Europe visiting family and friends. This particular upbringing piqued an early interest in art history, design and architecture which carried all the way through her education at the University of Virginia and eventually led her to real estate.
After graduating and prior to starting a family, Liberty managed Mas Tapas, easily the busiest restaurant in Charlottesville at the time. There she studied Spanish wine and fare and enjoyed traveling through Spain several times in the process. Nestled in the heart of Belmont, this experience also prompted her support and appreciation for small, locally owned business and emphasized the importance of neighborhood and community.
The last few years, her greatest joy has been raising her two boys, now 3 and 7, on some land in Albemarle county; walking their dogs on the adjoining farm and taking riding lessons on their grandmother’s horses. Competitive by nature, she is an avid fan and supporter of Virginia athletics and spends most weekends attending various sporting events with the family. Weekdays are spent mostly in Belmont where Liberty’s husband Hugh works for a biotech company and where both boys have attended the International School for years.
Liberty’s knowledge of the area is multi-faceted and has been personally curated over many years. She and Hugh are very fortunate to have all their parents and most of their extended family still living throughout town. Having grown up herself in the Fifeville and downtown regions she is familiar with the inner workings of all things Charlottesville and is eager to help others enjoy all that it has to offer as well.
