Description

The beautiful and historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has been a town of firsts. It was the first capital of Ontario, had the first newspaper, the first Masonic lodge, the first agricultural society and the first library, and was where the Law Society of Upper Canada was founded. It was here that the first anti-slavery legislation in the British Empire was passed. And now it is the first location in the Niagara region to have a prestigious Sotheby's International Realty Canada office. Located at 14 Queen Street directly across from the Clock Tower; a striking landmark honouring the fallen soldiers of the two World Wars. With restored buildings and charming streetscapes, the office is nestled amongst a parade of unique shops that, even as early as 1781 offered an astounding variety of goods.
The Sotheby’s International Realty Canada name and Niagara-on-the-Lake are a true reflection of a mix of heritage and culture. One of the defining elements of Niagara-on-the-Lake, along with its preserved historic buildings,is the Shaw Festival, a theatre company specializing in the plays of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries. It is also the home to estate and cottage wineries producing award winning bouquets year after year. In the 1990's the town was named by the international Communities in Bloom committee as Canada's prettiest town. It is hard to disagree with that sentiment. A nineteenth century historian said it best when he wrote in the 1890s that Niagara is as near heaven as any town ever.
Over a century later, his words ring true! Our market area includes St. Catharine's, Pelham, Fort Erie, Grimsby, Wainfleet, Welland, Port Colbourne and West Lincoln, Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake; all part of the Niagara Escarpment designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 1990. The escarpment includes some of Ontario's best camping, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking and viewing, and includes the Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest footpath. The Niagara escarpment creates a microclimate that allows the growing of viniferous grapes (including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling). As a result, the Niagara region is one of the best grape-growing regions in the world.
The Niagara Parkway is the perfect scenic route to the world renowned Niagara Falls; more than a natural phenomenon. The city offers thriving night life, one of a kind sightseeing tours and adventure for all ages. Niagara has increasingly become a golf destination and is home to the oldest golf course in North America - the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club (1875). With all that Niagara region has to offer and our close proximity to Pearson International Airport, St. Catharine's District Airport and Buffalo Airport, owning a vacation property is truly desirable for many of our clients. We are following our vision of becoming the best-known marketer of luxury real estate in the Niagara Region through our delivery of superior service and marketing savvy when managing our client's real estate portfolios.
