Brooks has always had a passion for architecture and the building process. As a child, he was intrigued by how the small addition, put on his family's post-war ranch outside of Boston, began to transform that living space for his family by suggesting to his parents that they could create a greater feeling of space and flow in the home if they take down some interior walls. Open to progressive thinking, his parents agreed and before long, their typical late 1940's ranch developed a unique character of its own. Throughout his professional career Brooks has been able to weave in his love for architecture and building by working as a Land Surveyor and Carpenter, has taught classes in woodworking, boatbuilding, surveying and architecture locally at Proctor academy where he has been a faculty member since 1990, served on the Town of Andover Zoning board of adjustment for four years where he gained a first hand understanding of local building ordinances, and operates a summer contracting business where he constructs anything from decks and docks to small additions and barns.
Brooks comes to the Real Estate industry by natural extension of his interest in homes and can provide to the buyer and, or seller with practical knowledge about all aspects of a building· from the site, to the structure and to the building style.
Brooks's hobbies include cycling, mountaineering, sailing, private aviation, nordic skiing and playing guitar. He and his wife Mindy have two boys; Thaddeus and Jackson and live in the home they rebuilt on nearby Bradley Lake in Andover.
