Description
Larry Jones has been a top real estate broker and local resident of the Roaring Fork Valley for over 3 decades. He grew up the in the outdoors and corn fields of Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in business. He also holds an MBA in International Marketing from Thunderbird School of International Management in Glendale, AZ, selected by “U.S. News and World Report” as the #1 international business school 16 years running. He holds the prestigious realtor designations of GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) and CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist).
After Thunderbird, Larry spent 7 years on Madison Ave. developing advertising and marketing programs for some of the world’s largest and most diverse international corporations including Proctor and Gamble, Eastern Airlines, Kimberly Clark, American Home Products, Borden’s, and Colgate Palmolive Latin America. But eventually he succumbed to the draw the mountains of Colorado.
“The first time I visited Aspen, I felt like I had found myself. It provides the outdoors, fresh air, and nature which is the heart of my soul. But it also offers many of the cultural pursuits on a world class level of a major metropolitan city in small intimate venues. My quest was complete. It was comfortable and just felt like home at long last.”
With a natural affinity to the global arena and with the international flavor of Aspen/Snowmass, Larry specializes in working with clients from around the globe. During his career he has closed over $200,000,000 in international transactions involving clients from such countries as Mexico, Brazil, England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Russia. “I love dealing with and learning about foreign cultures but I thrive on the added complexities of international transactions; ownership structures, laws, and tax implication that affect a person’s ability to buy and sell property within the United States. Importantly, I work with a team of International tax attorneys and accountants that will help you structure your ownership to protect you and minimize you tax liabilities.” With $85,000,000 in transactions in 2009, Larry ranked 48 th among all realtors in the U.S. according to the Wall Street Journal. Larry consistently ranks in the top of all brokers in the Aspen Board of Realtors year after year. He has worked repeatedly with some of the most influential families and clients of the world. They trust in his knowledge and capabilities to understand their unique needs and they have confidence that he is looking out for them.
When he is not excelling in real estate, Larry enjoys adventure traveling around the world including trekking/climbing in Nepal to the advanced base camp of Mt. Everest, mountain biking the breadth of Bhutan, across the High Atlas Mts. of Morocco, Copper Canyon of Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Viet Nam, or New Zealand, or ski mountaineering the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. In the summers he enjoys his time in the Roaring Fork Valley hiking and climbing the highest mountains of Colorado or biking all of the local roads and trails. His real passion is mountain biking, competing in the annual town race series usually winning his age group. He has also competed 9 times in the grueling Leadville 100, a 100-mile mountain bike race. Larry has commented; “Don’t forget, I love the outdoors but I also enjoy all of the cultural events of the area like the Ideas Fest, Jazz Aspen, Food and Wine, Aspen Music Festival, or the Aspen Institute.”
